 President Calvin Coolidge Historic Site The President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vermont preserves the birthplace and childhood home of Calvin Coolidge. On August 3, 1923, Coolidge took the presidential oath of office in the parlor of his family home in this historic village. The village remains much as it was during Coolidge’s lifetime, with homes of the Coolidge family, relatives, and friends lining the small village green. Other structures include a church, schoolhouse, cheese factory, store with a post office and dance hall, and historic agricultural buildings. Visitors can explore the Coolidge Homestead, a classic Vermont farmhouse where he grew up. It has been meticulously preserved to reflect the lifestyle of the Coolidge family during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
